As we enter our tenth year of operation under the ofCourse flag, we needed to direct some attention to foundational matters in support of the significant growth our platform has seen in its first decade. While spending time and energy on your home’s electric and plumbing systems is rarely fun, life without them in working order can get exciting fast. So infrastructural needs won the year's attention in 2025. A few of the more significant updates included:
ofCourse API
Your school’s IT units may now reach into ofCourse and programmatically pull data from the system. One school has already mapped a dynamic import into Banner from ofCourse.
Schedule Importing
For new schools, we can import past schedules into ofCourse. This helps pad their history in ofCourse and often accelerates their time of adoption and comfort in transitioning to the ofCourse workflow.
Schedule Cloning
For some environments, typically larger schools, a rinse-and-repeat schedule building process makes more sense than redoing an optimized build every year. We now offer the ability to clone previously finished schedules to new terms so they can be tweaked as needed.
Messaging System
We implemented a messaging platform that provides more sophisticated mailing tools, including notifications when faculty did not receive sent preference mailers or schedule notifications.
These enhancements, like all those before, were made to systems running at highway speeds with 99% uptime. That’s ten years of reliable service including routine product enhancements with nary a bump along the way.
As always, we look forward to seeing you on the scheduling pitch.
Troy.
