Faculty Comments Made Fun

Like most people, we enjoy a challenge. Many years ago, we took one of the most arduous administrative tasks universities faced and made it enjoyable. This is how the beautiful ofCourse system came to be. Below is one of our original mastheads from those times.

this system has done for course scheduling what velcro has done for kids shoes
The first critical step in making scheduling something people enjoyed.

Recently, we decided to throw ourselves back into this fray. We asked what the least enjoyable part of the current ofCourse system was. It didn't take long to settle upon Faculty Comments. Because of their nature, comments cannot be programmatically addressed, no matter how much we wish they could. Each had to be individually touched. So we made this our challenge--to make working your comments be something, dare I say, you looked forward to doing.

We cleared the white-board and re-imagined the entire workflow. I don't want to get ahead of myself and say that you will now love dealing with faculty comments. But I will say this--I wish I had some faculty comments to go through so I could use this shiny, new comments engine. Like the rest of the system, it too is a piece of art.
