All schedules have issues, even ones made using an optimized algorithm. One of the biggest amenities ofCourse provides is making schedule makers aware of every bump, bruise, and blemish on their schedule.
Obviously, we sound the alarm if a professor or room is double-booked. But, for instance, what if a class isn’t double-booked but, through manual adjustments, was placed near, too near, another class and there is only a five-minute break between two meetings? Our goal is to make you aware of every pinch point to give you a fighting chance to make it better.
And in cases where you can’t fix it, because, say, the courses are landlocked and can't be moved earlier or later without creating new issues, you can go to the prof six months before the term starts and explain that if they want that day and time (per their preferences), they will have another class coming in five minutes after them. This conversation tends to go much better months before the term begins than it does on the first day of class when the professor sees a group standing outside their classroom minutes after wrapping up their lecture.
