SCHEDULE NOTES
1 Spring 2022 classes begin on Monday, January 10, 2022 and end on Monday, April 18, 2022.
2 The reading period is subject to change in the event inclement weather or other extraordinary conditions occur during the semester and necessitate additional class make-up days at the end of the semester. Students should not make travel plans during the scheduled reading period.
3 Second-year part-time students must take Constitutional Law II, Evidence, and Professional Responsibility in Spring 2022.
4 Prerequisites: Evidence; Trial Practice. Advanced Trial Practice will meet at the Orange County Courthouse, Courtroom 10-B.
5 Prerequisite: Estates and Trusts; Federal Income Tax
6 Prerequisite: Evidence
7 Trial Practice Sections taught by Judge Whitehead are scheduled to meet at the Orange County Courthouse, Courtroom 18-C.
8 The Trial Practice Section taught by Judge Allen is scheduled to meet at the Orange County Courthouse, Courtroom 4-A.
9 Students may satisfy the Upper-Level Writing Requirement via a seminar, independent research paper, in an approved advanced drafting course or by writing a note as a member of the FAMU Law Review that is accepted for publication in a co-curricular law school journal and is certified by the faculty advisor for the FAMU Law Review. 10 Application and permission required. Students must (1) submit an approved outline and application signed by the full-time faculty member who will supervise and evaluate the research paper and (2) submit the signed application to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for final approval. 12 Law Clinic – Application and permission required. Forms and information are available by emailing COL-Legalclinic@famu.edu. Applications are due Nov 12. Once a student accepts an offer for a clinic position, the Registrar will provide a registration permission number for course registration. Students are not permitted to drop the clinic without approval of the Clinic Office. Students may not withdraw from clinics after the end of the Add/Drop period. Questions? 13 Law Clinic Prerequisite: Professional Responsibility.
14 Law Clinic Mandatory Orientation – Students enrolling in a clinic must attend a mandatory orientation. The clinic faculty will set the date and time of the orientation.
15 Field Placement - Application and permission required. Applications are available by emailing COL-Fieldplacement@famu.edu and are due November 12. Students who are approved to enroll will be notified. The Registrar will provide a registration permission number for course registration. Questions? Contact Professor Mark Dorosin.
16 The class portion of Field Placement will meet January 12, February 9, March 9, and April 13. The class will meet in Room 379 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on those days.
17 Moot Court and Trial Team are open only to students representing the College of Law on teams competing in state, regional, or national competitions. The faculty advisor must submit the names of the student representatives before registration codes will be issued to students.
