SCHEDULE NOTES
1 Fall 2022 classes begin on Monday, August 15, 2022, and end on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. The week of November 14 consists of holiday make-up days for Labor Day and Veteran’s Day. The College will operate on a MONDAY class schedule on November 14 and on a FRIDAY class schedule on November 15.
2 The reading period is subject to change in the event inclement weather or other extraordinary conditions occur during the semester and necessitate additional class make-up days at the end of the semester. Students should not make travel plans during the scheduled reading period.
3 First-year students in the part-time program must enroll in Torts Section 303 taught by Professor Pernell.
4 Introduction to Analytical Skills I will meet for 10 weeks during the semester, from the week of August 15 through the week of October 17.
5 Second-year students in the part-time program must enroll in Torts Section 304 taught by Professor Brown.
6 Torts Section 304 (Professor Brown) meets on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm - 7:20 pm and on Tuesdays from 7:40 pm - 9:00 pm. Because of the different class times, the course appears twice in the catalog view of the schedule.
7 Legal Research and Writing Section 306 meets on Mondays from 7:40 pm - 9:10 pm and on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm. Because of the different class times, the course appears twice in the catalog view of the schedule.
8 Legal Research and Writing I Wednesday Mandatory Meetings -- Mandatory meetings for Legal Research and Writing I will be scheduled throughout the semester on Wednesday evenings in the 7:45 pm - 9:15 pm time slot. Students must be available to schedule conferences during that time.
9 Prerequisite: Evidence.
10 Prerequisite: Trial Practice.
11 Prerequisites: Property; Wills and Estates
12 Law Clinic – Application and permission required. Once a student accepts an offer for a clinic position, the Registrar will provide registration permission for course registration. Students are not permitted to drop the clinic without approval of the Clinic Office. Students may not withdraw from clinics after the end of the Add/Drop period. Questions? 13 Law Clinic Meeting Time and Mandatory Orientation – The meeting time for Law Clinics will be determined in coordination with students enrolled. Students enrolling in a clinic must attend a mandatory orientation. The clinic faculty will set the date and time of the orientation.
14 Field Placement - Application and permission required. Students who are approved to enroll will be notified. The Registrar will provide registration permission for course registration. Questions? Contact Professor Mark Dorosin.
15 The class portion of Field Placement will meet on four Wednesdays during the semester from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm in Room 379. The dates of those classes are August 17, September 14, October 12, and November 9.
16 Students may satisfy the Upper-Level Writing Requirement via a seminar, independent research paper, in an approved advanced drafting course or by writing a note as a member of the FAMU Law Review that is accepted for publication in a co-curricular law school journal and is certified by the faculty advisor for the FAMU Law Review. 17 Independent Research -- Permission required. Students must (1) submit an approved outline and application signed by the full-time faculty member who will supervise and evaluate the research paper and (2) submit the signed application to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for final approval.
