SCHEDULE NOTES
1 Fall 2023 classes begin on Monday, August 14, 2022, and end on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. The week of November 13 consists of holiday make-up days for Labor Day and the Veteran’s Day observance on Friday, November 10. The College will operate on a MONDAY class schedule on November 13 and on a FRIDAY class schedule on November 14.
2 The reading period is subject to change in the event inclement weather or other extraordinary conditions occur during the semester and require the addition of make-up days at the end of the semester. Classes will be scheduled November 15, 16, 17, 20, and 21 if needed. Students and faculty should reserve these days for potential classes at the end of the semester and not make travel plans during the days designated for reading period, as classes will be scheduled on those days if needed.
3 Second-year students in the full-time program must take Constitutional Law II, Evidence, and Professional Responsibility in Fall 2023. Professional Responsibility will not be offered in Spring 2024.
4 Second-year students in the part-time program must enroll in section 302 of Contracts.
5 First-year students in the part-time program will be enrolled in section 301 of Contracts.
6 Appellate Advocacy is a required course for students who enter the College of Law in Fall 2021 and later.
7 Prerequisites: Legal Research and Writing I and Legal Research and Writing II.
8 Introduction to Analytical Skills I will meet for 10 weeks during the semester, from the week of August 14 through the week of October 16.
9 Criminal Procedure Survey -- Students who have taken LAW 6117 Criminal Procedure: Arrest and Investigation may not enroll in Criminal Procedure Survey.
10 Education Law Seminar is offered for 3-credits in Fall 2023.
11 Prerequisites: Property; Wills and Estates
12 Prerequisite: Contracts.
13 Prerequisite: Evidence.
14 Prerequisite: Trial Practice.
15 Prerequisite: Constitutional Law I and Constitutional Law II.
16 Prerequisite: Professional Responsibility.
17 Prerequisite: Torts.
18 Law Clinic – Application and permission required. Once a student accepts an offer for a clinic position, the Registrar will provide registration permission for course registration. Students are not permitted to drop the clinic without approval of the Clinic Office. Students may not withdraw from clinics after the end of the Add/Drop period. Questions? 19 Law Clinic Meeting Time and Mandatory Orientation – The meeting time for Law Clinics will be determined in coordination with students enrolled. Students enrolling in a clinic must attend a mandatory orientation. The clinic faculty will set the date and time of the orientation.
20 The seminar component of the Economic Justice Clinic meets weekly on Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:40 p.m. STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE ECONOMIC JUSTICE CLINIC MUST NOT ENROLL IN ANOTHER CLASS THAT MEETS ON MONDAYS DURING THE 6:00 TO 7:40 TIME PERIOD.
21 Field Placement - Application and permission required. Students who are approved to enroll will be notified. The Registrar will provide registration permission for course registration. Questions? Contact Professor Mark Dorosin.
22 The class portion of Field Placement will meet on four Wednesdays during the semester from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm in Room 376. The dates of those classes are August 16, September 13, October 11, and November 8. STUDENTS ENROLLED IN FIELD PLACEMENT MUST NOT ENROLL IN ANOTHER CLASS THAT MEETS ON WEDNESDAYS IN THE 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM TIME FRAME.
23 Upper-Level Writing Requirement – This seminar may satisfy the Upper-Level Writing Requirement. Contact the professor for more information regarding the specific requirements of this seminar. General information and the Upper-Level Writing Requirement Certification form are available on the College of Law Registrar's page on the website.
24 Experiential Learning Requirement – This simulation course counts toward satisfaction of the Experiential Learning Requirement. Contact the professor for more information regarding the specific requirements of this course.
25 Independent Research – Permission required. Students must (1) submit an approved outline and application signed by the full-time faculty member who will supervise and evaluate the research paper and (2) submit the signed application to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for final approval.
